श्रम संविधान की समवर्ती सूची का विषय है, इसलिए राज्यों को अधिकार है कि वे श्रमिकों के हित में कानून बनाएं। इस संदर्भ में राज्य सरकार से आग्रह किया गया कि विशेष विधानसभा सत्र बुलाकर केंद्र सरकार से श्रम संहिताओं की वापसी की मांग की जाए तथा श्रमिक हितों की रक्षा के लिए वैकल्पिक विधायी पहल की जाए।
केंद्र सरकार ने मनरेगा का नाम बदलकर ‘विकसित भारत रोजगार आजीविका मिशन (ग्रामीण) अधिनियम–2025’ कर दिया है और इसके प्रावधानों में ऐसे बदलाव किए गए हैं, जिनसे यह योजना धीरे-धीरे समाप्ति की ओर धकेली जा रही है। प्रदर्शनकारियों का कहना था कि यह कदम ग्रामीण गरीबों की आजीविका पर सीधा हमला है।

9 दिसंबर 2025 को केंद्रीय ट्रेड यूनियनों (CTUs) और विभिन्न सेक्टरल फेडरेशनएसोसिएशनों/एसोसिएशनों के संयुक्त मंच द्वारा प्रेस को निम्न बयान जारी किया गया।
भारतीय श्रम सम्मेलन की सिफारिशें, विश्व स्वस्थ्य संगठन के दिशानिर्देश, सुप्रीम कोर्ट के फैसले, विशेषज्ञ वेतन समितियों के निर्णय- सभी को नजरअंदाज किया जा रहा है। न्यूनतम वेतन गणना का आधार भी परिभाषित नहीं है, पारदर्शिता और निष्पक्षता पर सवाल हैं। ठेका और आउटसोर्सिंग क्षेत्र के मालिकों की भविष्य में जवाबदेही संदिग्ध है। अप्रेंटिस रखकर स्टाइपेंड देकर सस्ते में काम लिया जाएगा।
Central trade unions and the Samyukt Kisan Morcha organised massive nationwide protests in more than 500 districts demanding withdrawal of the four labour codes and reversal of anti-farmer policies. Protesters accused the government of attacking workers’ rights, promoting contractorisation, ignoring unemployment, pushing privatisation and suppressing labour laws. They criticised rising prices, joblessness and growing inequality, calling for filling vacant posts, job creation, strengthening social security and defending constitutional rights.
